Kalindo urges politicians to reflect on Chilembwe Day preaching

By Vincent Gunde

Political activist Bon Kalindo has urged all politicians in the country to reflect on Reverend John Chilembwe Day where a church Pastor preached that to have a position in government is not a weapon to be terrorizing, harassing, threatening and intimidating others.

The Church Pastor reminded all in their working places that God puts them there with a purpose to serve others for them to feel that they are safe under their leadership not to fear the leader as fear is a great sin in the eyes of God.

The Church Pastor referred to a Bible narration where David was told by Nathan that he has to go to the Lord and kneel down on his feet to accept that he has failed assuring him that God will listen to him and correct where he is getting it wrong.

Speaking through an audio clip, Kalindo said being a President, Army Commander and Inspector General of Police should not be positions of threatening others but their offices should serve all who have come to them with their concerns and grievances.

Kalindo said Reverend John Chilembwe was a good Pastor in his church saying history has recorded him not to have time threatening people by using his position, he left a good legacy which generations will be remembering him.

He said Reverend John Chilembwe Day was supposed to be a special day arranged for politicians from different political parties to unite in a country of political divide by sitting together to solve the challenges that are rocking Malawi from moving forward.

The activist said sadly the Reverend Chilembwe Day has nowadays been turn into a podium where politicians compete to find out who has contributed more Kwachas than the others and others take it as podium to shine through praising their leaders and party for nonsense.

He has lamented that instead of bringing unity taking advantage of Reverend John Chilembwe Day, the day turned out to be of phanga wielders Day for MCP thugs who have hacked on the face of AN innocent person believed to be member of the UTM and this was evidenced by UTM President Dr. Dalitso Kabambe who went to the hospital to visit and cheer him.

“Why hacking with a panga knife an innocent person, taking pangas, knives to the church, what message is the MCP preaching to Malawians ahead of the 16th September, 2025 General Elections? Questioned Kalindo.

He has advised Malawians to always remember that this is the only Malawi they have and there is no any other Malawi apart from Malawi they have, politics of pangas, knives and other dangerous weapons will take the country to nowhere.

Kalindo has finally advised Malawians to wear party attires of their choice, no one should be harassed and prevented from wearing different party colors, and be prepared to vote out President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera and his MCP without mercy on the 16th September, 2025.
