Two females and three males arrested for armed robbery in Johannesburg

A recent armed robbery in Johannesburg’s Orange Grove area has led to the arrest of five suspects, consisting of two females and three males.

The incident occurred on Louis Botha Avenue, where a man was robbed of his valuables by the suspects while refueling at a BP filling station.

The suspects, traveling in a red Volkswagen Jetta, allegedly stole the victim’s money, cellphones, and even transferred funds from his bank account to their own devices.

The victim immediately reported the incident to officers from the Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD), who quickly sprang into action.

With the help of additional support from private security, JMPD CCTV, Tactical Response Units (TRU), and the South African Police Service (SAPS), the suspect vehicle was tracked to a parking area near Pick ‘n Pay in Bramley View.

The suspects were subsequently arrested inside the mall, and all stolen items were recovered during the arrest.

The suspects are currently being held at Norwood SAPS, awaiting a court appearance on charges of robbery and possession of stolen property.

The successful operation highlights the importance of effective teamwork and coordination between law enforcement agencies and private security in ensuring the safety and security of citizens.
