Befit Learning Equipment Stolen at Chabwera Juniors Primary School in Machinga

Modern teaching and learning equipment worth over K50 million has been stolen from Chabwera Juniors Primary School in Liwonde, Machinga District. The equipment was donated under the Building Education Foundation Through Innovation and Technology (Befit) project, which is being implemented in various primary schools across the country.

The Befit Project Manager from the Edukans education organization in the district, Andrew Banda, confirmed the incident during an education committee meeting held today. The purpose of the meeting was to review the progress of the Befit project and elect a new committee to oversee its implementation.

According to Mr. Banda, the stolen items include 48 large laptops, over 100 headsets, and numerous connecting cables used with the devices. He said unknown individuals broke into the storage room last week and took the equipment, which has forced a temporary halt to the digital learning sessions at the school.
