A voice of the voiceless citizen of Malawi Isaiah Emmanuel Sunganimoyo Mbewe wa Dzalanyama, has sent a warning open letter to Malawi Congress Party (MCP) Secretary General Richard Chimwendo Banda advising him to change his behavior and actions to avoid creating many enemies in the party.
Sunganimoyo has claimed that many people in the MCP especially party officials are complaining of Chimwendo’s behavior since his election as Secretary General trusted by the delegates at the party’s elective conference held in Lilongwe.
He has observed that Chimwendo Banda has lost the good behavior he had while serving as the party’s National Director of Youth claiming that many people in the MCP have lost faith in him observing that the Secretary General should be a caregiver, accepting everyone, and should not keep debts.
In the open letter, Sunganimoyo has claimed that he was the first to publicly suggested the name of Chimwendo Banda to take the challenging party position of Secretary General in July, 2022 and he continued to support him until he won the position of Secretary General of the MCP.
Sunganimoyo has made it clear that he also criticized the former MCP Secretary General Eisenhower Mkaka in June, 2021 which led to his removal as the party’s Secretary General by the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC).
He said to come up writing the letter to Chimwendo Banda was not made out of fiction, saying he has listened to people’s concerns that most of the MCP NEC, Chewa chiefs, and ordinary members of the party are not happy with Chimwendo Banda’s performance as Secretary General in the MCP.
“Hon. Chimwendo Banda, please, reflect on your actions, and build your reputation, Blessed is every person elected as a leader, but many forget God’s greatness and start tear down their people,’ said Sunganimoyo in the letter.
He said politics is a state and behavior acceptable to God, but many see it as a tool to fight and torture people saying if God had such a heart, people could not live on the Earth advising Chimwendo Banda to use his blessings wisely.
The voiceless citizen has apologized for writing the letter to Chimwendo Banda assuring him that God loves him and there is still time to fix his weaknesses so that MCP members continue to build trust in him as their Secretary General.
On a special note, Sunganimoyo has claimed that the MCP as a party was hijacked by people from other parties joining it claiming that many members who kept the party while it was in the opposition for 31 years, are now in poverty and suffering.
He claimed that foreigners who have just joined in the MCP from other political parties are the ones enjoying leadership positions and other benefits more than the owners of the party under President Chakwera and Chimwendo Banda as Secretary General.
Sunganimoyo has finally a question to all MCP members and supporters that who can argue that the MCP Party was hijacked? Saying all those that are fighting for positions in the MCP, are foreigners not the owners of the party.
A Malawi Congress Party (MCP) diehard of Mvera in Dowa district Mr. Rodgers Kamphangala, has asked Chimwendo Banda not to take Sunganimoyo as his enemy but a true friend claiming that what Sunganimoyo has written in his letter bears nothing but the truth.
“Sunganimoyo has a special wisdom to transform the MCP to be a loving party, but, unfortunately, he is being regarded as useless in the eyes of those born with power to rule,” he said.
Kamphangala said it is unfortunate that Sunganimoyo was not made to be one of President Chakwera’s advisors claiming that had he being one, President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera could not be labelled as a failure in his leadership.
