During a surprise visit to Likuni Boys Secondary School in Lilongwe, Malawi Freedom Network discovered students from Likuni Open Day Secondary School in final preparations for their Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) examinations.

The scene was filled with focused energy as students gathered in various groups, reviewing notes and engaging in last-minute discussions.

The visit, conducted on Tuesday, 8 July 2025, coincided with the day the students were scheduled to sit for their Bible Knowledge paper.

Form 4 students from Likuni Open Day Secondary School confirmed to Malawi Freedom Network that they were indeed writing the Bible Knowledge examination on that day.

Some students expressed both anticipation and anxiety, noting the significance of the paper as one of the core subjects they had been preparing for all year.

The school compound remained calm yet intense, reflecting the high stakes that come with the national examinations.

Likuni Open Day Secondary School, which operates in the afternoon hours within the same premises as Likuni Boys, is known for offering education to students who cannot attend conventional boarding or full-day schools.

Despite operating under resource-constrained conditions, the students demonstrated determination and commitment to doing well in the exams.

The surprise visit served as a snapshot of the academic environment as candidates across Malawi continue to sit for various MSCE subjects this July.

It also highlighted the dedication of teachers and learners alike in navigating the challenges of public examinations under the national education system.

As MSCE exams proceed, the nation watches with hope for positive outcomes from hardworking students such as those at Likuni Open Day Secondary School.
