The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Alliance for Democracy (AFORD) is this evening convening in Lilongwe to discuss a crucial report from its technical team regarding potential political cooperation with the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP).

The technical team recently engaged in discussions with DPP counterparts as part of ongoing alliance negotiations.

Tonight’s high-level meeting comes a day after AFORD President Enoch Chihana held direct talks with DPP presidential candidate, Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika, at PAGE House in Lilongwe.

Highly placed sources indicate that a significant number of NEC members are inclined toward forming an alliance with the DPP—a development that could reshape political dynamics ahead of the forthcoming elections.

The outcome of tonight’s deliberations is expected to signal the direction AFORD will take in the evolving political landscap
