President of the Alliance for Democracy (AFORD) Enoch Kamzingeni Chihana, has called for unity amongst opposition party leaders to liberate the country from the shackles of MCP dictatorship and quest to return Malawi to a one-party state.
Chihana said he has every quality to stand as a presidential candidate but his priority is to serve Malawi from destruction saying this is why he is advocating for a grand opposition alliance against the MCP not to bounce back into government.
He said only unity amongst opposition party leaders for a grand alliance can bail the country out of the challenges it is sailing through the leadership of MCP President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera which has no welfare of people at heart.
The AFORD President has expressed his grave concern over some presidential candidates who are paying K10 million non-refundable fee to the Malawi Electoral Commission (Mec0) saying they deserve not to pay this amount.
Chihana said what is surprising him that these presidential candidates they don’t have even K200,000 in their bank account but they are paying K10 million advising Malawians to open their eyes that these leaders are MCP plant, they will join President Chakwera to bring the country back to a one-party state.
He has appealed to Malawians that on the 16th September, 2025 elections, they vote only a presidential candidate from opposition alliance and never to waste time voting for those who will stand on their own claiming that MCP has paid for them the K10 million.
“They don’t have even K200,000 in their bank account, how come they are paying K10 million non-refundable fee to Mec, don’t vote for these candidates,” said Chihana.
Limpopo FMs Nkhanga zaona programme producer Comrade Ntanyiwa, has assured Malawians that the radio will have a special programme to civic educating Malawians on who to be voted for and not claiming that Malawians know the tricks which have been made by the MCP to bounce back into government on the 16th September, 2025.
Comrade Ntanyiwa said it is strange and for the first time in the history of elections in Malawi to have 20 presidential candidates all paying K10 million non-refundable fee to Mec at the time that Malawians are sleeping with empty stomachs and have no hope for a better tomorrow.
He said all these presidential candidates are from the Southern Region of Malawi which is speaking for itself that this is the MCP strategy to split votes which could have gone to a single party- DPP advising Malawians not to waste time voting for these candidates backing MCP.
“We know the genuine independent candidates and the fake candidates planted by the MCP, the special programme will direct Malawians to vote for the rightful candidates,” said Comrade Ntanyiwa.
