Alliance for Democracy (AFORD) President Enock Kamzingeni Chihana, has asked the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) to leave Dr. Saulosi Chilima’s spirit to continue resting in peace other than dragging his dead body to respond to cheap fertilizer promises of K4000 plus and one million jobs creations failed promises.
Chihana has dismissed claims made by MCP running mate Engineer Vitumbiko Mumba disassociating the MCP from the promises of cheaper fertilizers of K4000 plus and one million jobs creation that these were UTM promises.
He said he is one of the signatories to the 2020 Tonse Alliance government alongside with President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera, Dr. Joyce Banda, and the late Dr. Saulosi Chilima saying Mumba is too young to be speaking of these failed promises by the MCP.
Speaking during the launch of the 2025 DPP manifesto at Katoto Freedom Park in Mzuzu on Sunday, Chihana asked the MCP not to run away from its promises and shifting the blame to the one who is dead and cannot express himself.
Chihana said all of what the MCP is doing, is not to accept that they have failed in all of their promises saying Malawians are the witnesses by themselves that President Chakwera has been campaigning of the cheaper fertilizers and one million jobs creation throughout the country.
“The issues were a collective responsibility by all of us and today President Chakwera and the MCP must not run away from it because it is a failed promise,” he said.
Chihana has advised the MCP not to remind Malawians on the tragic death of Dr. Saulosi Chilima whose questions are till today no answered, observing that Malawians have cried and cried for government to give them answers but nothing and today, they are blaming him for failed promises.
The AFORD President has appealed on behalf of all Malawians to Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika that after he is Sworn-in as the President of the Republic of Malawi, he should immediately institute a commission of inquiry to investigate circumstances that surrounded Dr. Chilima’s death.
He described the commission of inquiry which was instituted by President Chakwera as fake claiming that he has never seen from before a murder suspect calling for a witchdoctor to investigate him but paving way for others, to investigate him.
Chihana expressed hope and confidence that the questions which government have not responded surrounding the tragic death of Dr. Saulosi Chilima and eight others, in the Chikangawa forest will come to light after the elections of Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika on the 16th September, 2025.
