A Malawi Congress Party ( MCP) constituency Secretary for Lilongwe Urban speaking on a strict condition of anonymity, said Malawi Electoral Commission’s rejection of relocating its head office from Lilongwe to Blantyre, should not be taken lightly, saying this alone is exposing the Constitution of the Republic that it has so many loopholes demanding a complete overhaul.
The MCP Secretary said the Mec has rejected the Executive Order made by the President of the country meaning that the three arms of government are powerless to force it relocate from Lilongwe to Blantyre- as per the directive.
He said this is a wake up call to government to call for a Constitutional conference for Malawians to come together to redraft their Constitution so that some grey areas in the Constitution are removed.
The MCP member said the High Court of Malawi sitting in Lilongwe ruled in favor of government for Mec to relocate from Lilongwe to Blantyre and instead of appealing the High Court’s decision to the Supreme Court of Malawi, the Mec has found another loophole- Independence of the Electoral body.
In a statement released on 9th April, 2026 the Electoral body said it has resolved to take appropriate legal steps to ensure that the constitutional issues surrounding the relocation directive are conclusively determined.
The MCP Constituency Secretary said the rejection by Mec to relocate to Blantyre its head office is putting the record straight that the Electoral body’s leadership is captured by the MCP hoping that in 2030 MCP will bounce back into government and the head office should remain to be in Lilongwe.
He has challenged MCP members and supporters that it will take decade of years for Malawians to forget the wounds inflicted by the MCP on their bodies and dreaming of the party’s 2030 coming back into power, is just another waste of time and energy.

The MCP member said they can take the headquarters of Mec to Dowa or remain in Lilongwe saying this will not make the MCP back to power for having an added advantage that the head office is in the central region of Malawi which is dominated by the MCP itself.
He said the way senior members of the MCP have conducted themselves in NEEF loans sharing to amongst themselves, many MCP members and supporters have been frustrated and are in anger saying even if the elections are held today, MCP will miserably lose.
” NEEF loans were shared to amongst themselves, we at the Constituency level, we were only the hand clappers that Boma ndilomweli silikuchoka mpakana 2084 what we have benefited more are packets of maheu and K5000s,” he said.

The MCP Secretary has appealed to MCP members and supporters to sit down to force President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera, Richard Chimwendo Banda, and all those that have taken a hand in destroying the good image of the party to honorably resign from the party to form their own political parties or joining existing parties.
The MCP Secretary said time is now to fire all those who have destroyed the four cornerstones upon which the party was founded by Ngwazi Dr. Hastings Kamuzu Banda of Unity, Obedience, Loyalty and Discipline for real transformation in the party.
He said he being a strong supporter of the MCP, he feel pain in his heart that the party lost power because some other people in the party did not learn lessons from the party’s 31 years in the opposition benches.
He has assured all MCP members and supporters that if Dr. Lazarus Chakwera, Richard Chimwendo Banda, and others, continue to lead the party to the 2029 Convention, the party should forget taking part in the 2030 elections.
The MCP Secretary has finally urged the Pressure Group which has been born in the MCP to continue doing a good work to members and supporters that President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera relinquishes power for new blood in the names of Mc Brain Nkhalamba to take over.
