Letty Chiwara, UN Women Malawi Representative, accompanied by Mrs. Maggie Kathewera Banda, Chairperson of the NGO Gender Coordination Network – Malawi, paid a courtesy call on Vice President Jane Ansah S.C. on Friday 8 May 2026.

During the meeting, the Representatives commended the Vice President for her exemplary leadership and described her as an inspiration to many young Malawians.
They expressed their admiration for her commitment to promoting gender equality and women’s empowerment in Malawi.
Chiwara briefed the Vice President on UN Women’s support to the Women Manifesto Movement, highlighting that UN Women emerged from the global women’s movement.
She emphasized the importance of women’s leadership and participation in national development.

The discussion also focused on Malawi’s role in the GEF Coalition 6 on feminist movements and women’s leadership, which the country co-leads with Canada. Chiwara noted that Malawi is demonstrating its commitment to placing women at the center of national development through the Women Manifesto Movement.
The Vice President welcomed the delegation and reiterated her government’s commitment to promoting gender equality and women’s empowerment.
