The two football governing bodies had been embroiled in a highly publicized dispute since April this year, with their differences frequently spilling onto social media platforms and into the mainstream media, raising concerns among football stakeholders.

A breakthrough was reached during FAM’s Annual General Meeting held in Salima on Sunday, where leaders from both organisations held closed-door discussions before emerging with a renewed commitment to unity and cooperation.SULOM Drags Silver Strikers, Ekhaya FC, and Elias Missi Before Disciplinary Committee

Speaking after the meeting, FAM President Fleetwood Haiya described the discussions as productive, saying the time had come to stop airing internal disagreements in public and instead focus on developing the game.

“We have agreed to work together in the best interests of Malawian football. Our focus should now be on growing the sport rather than engaging in public exchanges over our differences,” Haiya said.

SULOM President Brigadier General Gilbert Mittawa echoed the sentiments, saying disagreements are inevitable in any family but what matters most is the willingness to resolve them.
