Former Malawi President Dr. Joyce Banda has been recognised for her contribution to Africa’s development after receiving the prestigious African Champions Award during this year’s Africa Walk held in Abeokuta, Nigeria.

According to the organisers, Dr. Banda was honoured for her “visionary statesmanship, unwavering dedication to African progress, and inspiring legacy of leadership across the continent and beyond.”

Receiving the award, the former Malawian Head of State expressed gratitude for the recognition and highlighted the importance of African unity and stronger economic cooperation.

“Africa moves forward when we walk together. This event reminds us that trade and our future are connected. I am deeply honoured by this recognition and by the warm hospitality of the people of Nigeria,” she said.
