Qatar Loses World Cup Opener

The 2022 FIFA World Cup hosts Qatar have made history by becoming the first nation (Since 1930) to lose the World Cup opener crashing 2-0 to Ecuador.

Ecuador forward Enner Valencia scored a brace in the opening game. Valencia managed to put the ball into the net three times, however, his other goal was disallowed.

Initial estimates suggest around 20,000 Qatar supporters left the game at the break.

The win takes Ecuador to the pole position in Group A.

On Monday, MBC TV will beam another live group A encounter between Netherlands and Senegal from 6 pm.

Full fixture for Monday.
