COCA-COLA CREATES JOB OPPORTUNITIES IN MALAWI

Coca-Cola Beverages Africa says it has created over three hundred jobs following the acquisition of a non-alcoholic beverage category-Southern Bottlers Limited (SOBO) from Castel Malawi Limited.

The company’s Chief Executive Officer, Seuloodi Thaanyane, has told MBC in an interview as the company rolls out its operations in Lilongwe where it will be headquartered.

“Normally when a company is sold off, fear and anxiety of job losses grip existing workers. However, this is not the case after we bought the soft drinks category from Castel Malawi. We have taken on board existing employees and created additional jobs,” explained Thaanyane.

In terms of corporate social responsibility, Thaanyane said plans are underway to identify the needs of communities in the market which are in line with its corporate social investment.

Castel Malawi Limited sold off Malawi’s historic company, SOBO, to Coca-Cola Beverages Africa which is a subsidiary of Coca-Cola Beverages Limited.

Currently, the company is operating in 14 African countries.
