LWB Needs K2 Bn For Free Water Connection In Cholera Hot Spots

Lilongwe Water Board (LWB) says it needs K2 billion to provide free tap water to Lilongwe residents, especially in high-density areas that have been hit by cholera.

Board Chairperson for LWB, Inkosi Ya Makosi Mbelwa V, made the remarks after touring water Interventions being implemented by Lilongwe Water Board and the city council as one way of curbing the spread of cholera in the city.

During the visit, it was revealed that water tests in nine shallow wells in the city showed contamination as a result of a mix between water from the wells and human excreta from pit latrines. –
