The councils’ Director of Public Works (DPW) Ellis Tembo has confirmed the development stating that the contractor abandoned the project after he was already paid.
“We took him to court after he abandoned the construction site. We reported him to the National Construction Industry Council (NCIC) for breach of contract and misconduct. We also terminated the contract,” said Tembo.
He however, said the project will be completed this year using the 2023-2024 Governance to Enable Service Delivery (GESD) funding. However, Nkhoma has asked for accountability for the previous funds already paid to the contractor.
