On Sunday, 1 December 2024, His Excellency Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika, along with the entire leadership of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), embarked on a whistle-stop tour in the southern region, focusing on areas along the Shire River. The event was aimed at mobilizing support for the party and engaging with local communities in preparation for the upcoming 2025 general elections.

The tour was organized to inform and educate people about the importance of voter registration, particularly in the districts of Nsanje, Chikwawa, and other regions such as Mangochi, Lilongwe, and Mzimba. This initiative reached a wide audience, ensuring that citizens across these areas were made aware of the election process and their critical role in shaping the country’s future.

Prominent figures from the DPP, including the party’s Secretary General, Hon. Peter Mukhito, Deputy Leader in the Southern Region, Hon. Joseph Mwanamvekha MP, DPP’s Chief Organizer, Hon. Sameer Suleman MP, and the DPP Regional Governor for the South, Hon. Charles Mchacha MP, attended and spoke at various campaign venues. The leaders, alongside local officials such as District Governors and Councillors, addressed the crowds and discussed the party’s vision for the future of Malawi.

This whistle-stop tour underscored the DPP’s commitment to engaging with local communities and fostering broad participation in the democratic process, especially as Malawi prepared for the 2025 elections. It also reflected the party’s focus on unity and its efforts to reach out to people from all corners of the country.
