Pastor Shumba calls Chakwera to fulfill promise on Mangochi-Makanjira Road

Activist Pastor Moses Shumba-the Lion of Judah, has called on President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera to come out from his silence to fulfill the promise made on the construction of the much-awaited Mangochi-Makanjira Road.

Pastor Shumba said memories are still fresh that President Chakwera took with him Chief Makanjira, Sheikh Mtenje, Member of Parliament for the area Benedicto Chambo and councilors to the United Arab Emirates to witness the signing of the Fund meant for the construction of the said road.

He said there are only 6 month left before the country go to the polls to elect the President, Members of Parliament and councilors but it seems all who accompanied the President are mum, they are speaking nothing of the road which is a great concern to the people of Makanjira and Mangochi boma.

Speaking through an audio clip, Pastor Shumba said people of Makanjira are questioning government to explain how it used the funds meant for the road construction project observing that nothing is being seen showing its progress.

Pastor Shumba recalled that after the deal was signed there was a sigh of relief that the much awaited road project would start with others mocking former President and DPP leader Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika as a failed leader.

He said MBC Television crew travelled to Makanjira to take pictures of the road that President Chakwera is delivering to the people of Mangochi-Makanjira but the state of the road has reached almost impassable making transportation at owner’s risk.

The activist has expressed fears that with only 6 months to go before the elections, there is no hope that government would fulfill the promise of the road and what is paramount is for government to account for the money and give it back to the people of Makanjira.

He has thanked President Chakwera for appointing Honorable Chambo as a Deputy Minister in his cabinet expressing hope that him being part of the delegation that travelled with the President to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) will be held accountable for the money for Mangochi-Makanjira Road.

“The concerns of the Makanjira people will now be heard by Minister Chambo to forward it to President Chakwera for answers,” said Pastor Shumba.

He said the people of Makanjira are demanding answers of their anticipated road in as soon as yesterday following the writing on the wall that MCP on 16th September, 2025 will be escorted to the grave with or without Smartmatic machine.
