Newly promoted elite football league team, Songwe Border, has appointed former Topic Football Academy coach, Enoch Mhone, as their new head coach with immediate effect.
According to a press release from the ‘Ndenga Boys’ Club management, Mhone’s impressive managerial record as an academy coach earned him the top spot.
Mhone has been awarded a year-long performance-based contract, which will see him through the 2025 soccer season, a strategic move expected to bolster Songwe Border’s competitiveness in the top flight league.
In a related development, Mzuzu City Hammers has unexpectedly terminated the contract of their head coach, Ikwanga, despite his impressive performance in guiding the team to a top-four finish in last year’s TNM Super League season.
The reasons behind this decision remain unclear, as team officials, including secretary Benjamin Thole and patron Gift Mkandawire, were unavailable for comment.
Ikwanga confirmed receiving the termination notice, expressing his gratitude to the club and wishing them well in their future endeavours.
“I was informed about the club’s new plans for the season, and now I’m exploring new opportunities,” he said.
