
- Symon Kamlaka was born on February 15, 1985.
- He is the 9th born in a family of 12 siblings, consisting of 6 boys and 6 girls.
- Originally from Malingunde in Lilongwe, Symon’s parents settled in Ntcheu, where he grew up.
- Symon met his music partner, Kendall Kamwendo, while on holiday after completing his MSCE exams. They were neighbors in Area 25.
- Symon’s parents sent him to a seminary secondary school, hoping he would become a priest. However, he pursued a different path.
- In 2003, Symon and Kendall recorded their first single, “Nyemba Nyemba,” which was initially a mock song about door-to-door vendors. The song’s success encouraged them to compose more music and release their first album.
- Symon is a qualified electrical engineer with expertise in air conditioning services, cooling, and refrigeration.
- Apart from music and engineering, Symon engages in business ventures that take him to South Africa, Namibia, Angola, and Botswana. However, he keeps the specifics of his business private.
- Symon’s highest moment was when he and Kendall had a radio interview on MBC with Reymond Sekeni in 2003.
