UTM president Dalitso Kabambe on Friday led a key party event at Springs Park in Mzuzu, where he presented certificates to parliamentary and local government election candidates for the Northern Region ahead of the September tripartite polls.
The ceremony attracted senior UTM officials and party supporters, marking an important step in formalizing the candidacies of those contesting under the UTM banner.
Among the notable figures present was UTM vice president for the Northern Region, Catherine Mzumara, who is also vying for the Mzimba North Constituency parliamentary seat.
Also in attendance was Professor Mathews Mtumbuka, a key advisor to the UTM president, signaling the leadership’s commitment to ensuring a strong and organized campaign in the north.
Speaking at the event, Mzumara said the presentation of certificates reflects the party’s readiness and determination to fully support all its aspirants during the election campaign.
She emphasized that this move demonstrates UTM’s structured approach to preparing for the elections and its resolve to provide the necessary backing to candidates across the region.
Kabambe, who addressed the gathering, called for unity and hard work among the aspirants, urging them to take the campaign message of transformation to every corner of the Northern Region.
The event sets the tone for UTM’s regional campaign strategy as the party positions itself to challenge rivals in what is expected to be a highly competitive election.
