In a surprising move ahead of Malawi’s upcoming elections, some members of the United Democratic Front (UDF) have declared their readiness to work with the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) to ensure effective governance.

Speaking at a press briefing in Lilongwe, the group’s acting spokesperson, Labana Chilungo, explained that their willingness to collaborate is rooted in past experiences of working with various political parties. “We are ready to cooperate with any ruling party, just as we have partnered with other parties in the past,” Chilungo said.Malawi Elections 2025: Survey Shows Peter Mutharika Leading Ahead of Lazarus Chakwera

He was quick to clarify that the decision is not motivated by personal interests or political ambition. Instead, it stems from a genuine desire to support the DPP in performing effectively during the electoral period.

This development could signal a new approach to political alliances in Malawi, highlighting a growing trend of pragmatism over partisanship as parties gear up for the elections.
