Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Norman Chisale says President Peter Mutharika has donated five head of cattle and K5 million to staff at Maula Prison.
Chisale said the donation followed news that the President’s son, Tadikira, on Christmas Day visited the prison where celebrations were held.
However, Chisale also disclosed that government officials will travel to Chikangawa to establish the cause of the plane crash that claimed the life of the former Vice President, insisting that unanswered questions surrounding the tragedy must be addressed.
He further announced that starting January 2, Maula Prison will receive high-profile visitors, with inmates expected to formally welcome the delegations.
The developments come amid heightened public scrutiny over state actions, transparency, and accountability in matters involving public institutions and national tragedies.
