The initiative is designed to bridge the gap between grassroots football and elite competition by giving young players direct exposure to professional clubs and scouts.

In his remarks, Prophet Bushiri emphasized that sports development should not be left entirely in the hands of government, calling on private sector players and well-wishers to contribute towards the growth of football and other sporting disciplines in Malawi.

“We need to commend government for what it is doing in promoting sports in the country. However, we need to help the government in promoting all sports disciplines in the country,” said Bushiri.

He described the Football Scouting Project as part of broader efforts aimed at complementing government initiatives in youth empowerment and sports development.

Bushiri further appealed to the business community to invest in sports, arguing that football has the potential to transform lives, create employment opportunities, and nurture future national stars.
