BLANTYRE — Lions Club International has honoured Past District Governor Lion Francis Mphepo for completing 50 years of dedicated humanitarian service, recognising his long-standing contribution to the organisation and its community-focused work.
Mphepo, a member of the Blantyre Lions Club, received the recognition alongside several other members who were honoured for their years of service to the international humanitarian organisation.
Speaking after receiving the award, Mphepo encouraged fellow Lions Club members to remain committed to serving communities despite the demands and pressures of their professional and personal lives. He said humanitarian service requires continued dedication and a willingness to support those in need.
Multiple District 412B District Governor Lion George Chirombe presented the recognition and called on Lions clubs to strengthen their humanitarian programmes by focusing on all areas of service while expanding their membership.
Chirombe said recruiting new members remains important for strengthening the capacity of Lions clubs to reach more communities and sustain their humanitarian activities.
Other members of the Blantyre Lions Club were also recognised for their long service. Lion Vikesh Vanzara received an award marking 40 years of service, while Lion Albert Mtulumbwa, Lion Tiwonge Chinunda and Lion Mary Mphepo were each recognised for 10 years of dedicated service.
The awards highlight the contribution of long-serving Lions Club members to humanitarian initiatives and community development in Malawi, as the organisation continues to promote volunteerism and service to vulnerable communities.
