As Malawi set its sight on the 2028 Los Angeles Paralympic Games, the Malawi Paralympic Committee is encouraged by the progress of its athletes.

At the 2024 Paris Paralympic Games, Moses Misoya and Estere Nagoli achieved personal best times, finishing 8th and 4th in the T13 400m and T12 200m races, respectively.

Misoya shaved off 0.73 seconds from his previous record, completing the race in 54.27 seconds on Thursday, while Nagoli beat her previous record by 0.89 seconds, finishing in 32.11 seconds on Friday.

James Chiutsi, President of the Malawi Paralympic Committee, expressed his delight at the athlete’s performance.

“Breaking their own records is a significant achievement. Our athletes have not yet reached the 10,000-12,000 hours of training required for maturity, but they are on track.

The fact that they can reduce their records gives us hope for the future”. He said.

With four years to go until the next Paralympic Games, Chiutsi is confident that Malawi’s Para athletes will continue to improve and make a meaningful impact in Los Angeles.
