Bakili Muluzi TV has claimed that the alliance between DPP and UTM failed not because of Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika or any individual member of the DPP but UTMs President Dr. Dalitso Kabambe whose demands were more than the alliance itself.

The television station says Professor Arthur Mutharika asked the UTM leadership to give him three names and out of these three, he should choose one to be his running mate for the 16th September, 2025 elections in a grand opposition party alliance.

He said the news to give Professor Mutharika did not go well with Dr. Kabambe, Noel Masangwi, Dr. Patricia Kaliati, and Richard Makondi, they turned down the request to give Mutharika three names for the reasons best explained by themselves.

Writing on his face book page, Bakili Muluzi TV says Dr. Kabambe wanted to be running mate to Professor Mutharika but the DPP did not agree with this as this will be nepotism playing its part in the grand opposition party alliance.

Bakili Muluzi TV says the DPP senior gurus argued that Professor Mutharika and Dr. Kbambe comes from Thyolo district and it is totally unacceptable for one district to have a President and running mate out of the 28 districts in Malawi.

He says in the second meeting between the DPP and UTM, Dr. Kabambe changed tone that he wanted to lead the Alliance speaking for itself that Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika must step down or to be made Dr. Kabambe’s running mate.

The activist says the DPP after knowing that Dr. Kabambe was demanding what Malawians cannot accept that Professor Mutharika be his running mate, they stopped holding electoral alliance meetings with him and let Dr. Kabambe to go his way.

He said Professor Mutharika wanted from the UTM five people in the names of Catherine Mzumara (PhD holder in Economics, Helen Chabunya (Harvard university graduate), Newton Kambala (an Engineer), Fredokiss (a University of Malawi graduate) and Mary Chilima.

“Dr. Kabambe, Masangwi, Kaliati and Makondi refused to give the names to Professor Mutharika but Professor Mutharika told Dr. Kabambe in person that it is impossible for president and running mate all to come from one district,” says Bakili Muluzi TV.

Bakili Muluzi TV has alleged that these four senor UTM leaders have eaten a lot of money from Leston Mulli and they are afraid that after the 16th September, 2025 elections, they will ALL fall down and as such, they have resorted to turn against the DPP and its leader Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika.
