Mighty Mukuru Wanderers has announced the departure of their head coach, Meck Mwase, following a series of disappointing performances.
The decision comes after the team’s recent loss to Silver Strikers, which saw them drop to second place in the league standings ¹.
Mwase took over as Wanderers’ coach at the start of the season, replacing Ramadan, who had been in charge previously.
However, his tenure was marked by a string of lackluster performances, including a defeat in the Airtel Top 8 semifinals.
In a media statement, Mwase’s inability to secure wins in crucial matches led to his departure.
“The team’s management had grown increasingly frustrated with the coach’s tactics and decision-making on the field,” reads part of the statement.
Wanderers currently sits in second place in the league, trailing behind Silver Strikers by a narrow margin.
The team will look to regroup and refocus under new leadership as they aim to reclaim the top spot.
Wanderers faces a tough road ahead, with several key matches lined up in the Castel Challenge Cup.
The team will need to rally behind their new coach to overcome the current slump and make a strong comeback.
