Former President of the Republic of Malawi who is also Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) leader Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika has joined the Malawi nation in celebrating 61st Independence anniversary.

Mutharika has advised Malawians that as they are celebrating, they should remember that Malawi’s strength has always been in her people, resilient, respectful, and hopeful saying it is this hope that should keep inspiring them to work hard for a just, secure and developed Malawi.

He said it is the respect that should define their politics saying this year, is not just remarkable in that Malawi has clocked 61, it is also an opportunity for them to choose leaders in alignment with the vision of this country.

“Leader who offer stability, experience, and a clear vision for progress, God bless Malawi, Happy 61st Independence,” reads Professor Mutharika’s writings on his face book page.

Business entrepreneur Kondwani Kachamba Ngwira says the country has blown MK8 billion for Independence anniversary which could have changed the entire business environment of Malawi observing that this money could have gone for the establishment of factories for exercise books and pens, packaging bottles, plastic plates and chairs with change coming out of it.

Kachamba has claimed that with this K8 billion, two factories could have been established in each of the regions of the country saying K2 billion to the North for the production of exercise books and pens to supply to the whole Malawi at affordable prices in markets.

He says the Central could have the production of plastic plates and cups factory, saying this would have made Malawi to start using recycled plastic and leave alone those coming from outside the country, in the South, cooking oil factory to supply the whole Malawi and beyond, prices would have gone down for soap making and cooking oil.

The Entrepreneur challenged the authorities openly to put MK2 billion on the table for him to direct the project and Malawi will start exporting cooking oil within 24 months, prices will drop more than half the current price.

“You are destroying the country out of splashing money as if Malawi is the richest country while it is the poorest,” reads Kachamba Ngwira’s writings on his face book page.

Kachamba said it pained him to see fertilizer being bought at K150,000 per bag observing that this blown away K8 billion the country could have a factory for organic fertilizer and compliment the scarce product on the market.

He said the MK8 billion blown away could have changed the face of youth if put in cooperatives and champion trade expressing hope fears that this country will not change if management of finances will be the way the country has spent its MK8 billion for one -day celebrating independence anniversary.

The Entrepreneur expressed his sadness that the country is buying maize from Tanzania to supplement its reserves because it has failed to produce a lot saying there’s no reason to blame natural disasters, the country has 6 lakes and plenty perennial rivers that give water 24/7 despite all these, the country was ready to blow MK8 billion for independence celebrations.
