Addressing the massive crowd, Bushiri urged young players not to underestimate their abilities, stressing that football can be a life-changing career path if pursued with discipline and determination.
“This talent you have is not small—it can transform your future,” he said, reinforcing his foundation’s mission to identify, nurture, and elevate grassroots talent across Malawi.
“We have incredibly gifted players who remain unknown simply because they lack exposure. Initiatives like this are crucial,” said Phiri, who currently serves in the Ministry of Sports.

With an investment exceeding K150 million, the Shepherd Bushiri Foundation football bonanzas have already reached districts such as Mchinji, Dowa, Balaka, Mzimba, Karonga, Rumphi, and Mzuzu—making it one of the most impactful grassroots football programs in Malawi today.
