In a remarkable display of compassion and community development, Step 30 International Ministries has drilled a solar-powered borehole in Chingala Village, Lilongwe District, bringing safe and clean water to the doorstep of residents.

“This is a dream come true,” says Mrs Phiri, a grateful beneficiary. “We used to walk long distances to fetch water, often sharing it with animals. Now, we have clean water at our fingertips, and our children are no longer suffering from diarrhoea and other waterborne diseases.”

The borehole, funded by Step 30 International Ministries, a Korean-based organisation, is a testament to the power of collaboration and community-driven development. “We are thrilled to have made a difference in the lives of these people,” says Bishop Harvey Chabingah, founder of Christ Mandate for Jesus Missions.

The community is not only using the water for drinking but also for irrigation, establishing vegetable gardens that will improve food security and income. “This is a game-changer for us,” says Mrs Phiri. “We can now feed our families and even sell some produce to support our livelihoods.”

Step 30 International Ministries Country Director, Robert Doko, urges the community to take good care of the borehole, emphasising its importance for their future. “This is your facility, use it wisely and sustainably,” he says.

Christ Mandate Church, which operates in several districts in Malawi and Mozambique, is committed to supporting vulnerable communities through various humanitarian initiatives.

The solar-powered borehole, complete with a 2,000-litre storage tank and taps, was constructed at a cost of K10 million.
