Malawian political activist and commentator and President of Chilungamo Party Comrade Inran Jumbe has called for the ongoing parliamentary inquiry into the plane crash that killed former Vice President Saulos Chilima and eight others to be broadcast live on public television and radio stations.Parliamentary Probe Launched into Chikangawa Plane Crash
In a strongly worded statement, Jumbe praised the parliamentary inquiry team for what he described as a “professional and encouraging commencement” of investigations into one of Malawi’s most tragic national disasters.

Jumbe said Malawians have waited with “deep anxiety, pain, and anticipation” for a credible process capable of uncovering the truth behind the tragedy.
“As one among many citizens who persistently demanded a genuine, independent, and transparent inquiry from the very first day following the events of 10th June, I believe that the defining moment the nation has long been yearning for has finally arrived,” he said.Lucky Mbewe questions President Chakwera’s transparency over Chilima plane crash inquiry
He stressed that the people of Malawi deserve “answers, accountability, and above all, the truth without concealment or political interference.”
Jumbe further appealed to the parliamentary inquiry team, led by Honourable Nyamilandu, to ensure maximum transparency by allowing live broadcasts of all proceedings on national television and radio platforms.

The activist also called for several senior government and military officials who held positions of authority at the time of the crash to testify publicly before the inquiry.
Among those he mentioned were Malawian President Lazarus Chakwera, Richard Chimwendo Banda, Moses Kunkuyu, and senior military leadership.

He also raised concerns surrounding the aircraft’s black box, questioning its whereabouts and the information it may contain.
“Where is the black box? What exactly happened to it? These are legitimate concerns being raised by citizens across the country, and the inquiry must address them comprehensively and transparently,” he said.

He argued that restoring public confidence and honoring the victims can only be achieved through “a fearless, independent, and transparent investigation guided solely by facts and justice.”
“The people of Malawi are watching. The nation demands truth, accountability, and openness. Nothing less will satisfy the public conscience,” Jumbe concluded.
